March County Board Meeting Notes

The March county board meeting was held on the 7th of March in McGovern Park Ruislip. A minute’s silence was held in memory of the late County Board President, Joe Fryday whose presence at the meeting was sorely missed.

Fixtures have been ratified up until the 13th of April, and the board are waiting for confirmation of Provincial fixture dates for the All Britain Inter County Championship.

Marie Tighe from the TCG club was ratified as the new London Children’s Officer for the 2019 season.

Colleen Lynott was ratified as the Development Officer as well as the Under 14 manager for 2019.

Liam Moffatt and John Lynch were ratified as the management team for the London Under 18 team for 2019.

Elaine Hayes resigned as the Vice Chair of the Board to be ratified as the new Complaints, Objections, Disciplinary and Appeals (CODA) Officer for London which is for a three year term.

Under 15s are having their second training session in Greenford on the 10th of March in preparation for the Breda Curran tournament in Wexford which is happening at the end of the month.

Under 18s are out again on Sunday at the Universities Blitz having had fantastic success in the previous weekend’s tournament winning 2 of their 3 games against teams that are older than them. Everyone on the board are extremely proud of the progress made by this team and their management.

There will be a defibrillator course held at Ruislip on the 27th of April, with members able to attend either the morning or afternoon session.

There will be a series of trials for the adult county team beginning on the 9th of March, 31st March and 4th of April. Trials for the Feile U14 team will begin on the 16th of March, followed by 24th March and 28th April in Greenford.

The board wished to put on the record their gratitude for the work of London GAA Development Officer Lloyd Colfer for helping with the ladies development, following his departure to his new post working with Wexford GAA – we wish him all the best.

The final two items discussed were regarding tournaments that are being run in the county with Holloway Gaels running their annual Ann Dunning tournament on the 23rd of March for adult teams, with the Chloe Cup being run on the same day for the underage teams.

There was also a decision by the entire board to rename the Mary Fryday tournament, a tournament set up by the late Joe Fryday in memory of his late wife, to the Joe and Mary Fryday tournament in recognition of Joe’s outstanding contribution to the game of ladies football within London.

The next London County Board meeting will be held in McGovern Park, Ruislip on the 4th of April, with the Youth meeting commencing at 7pm and the adult meeting following it at 7.30pm.
